Our room in the guest house was neat and well kept with twin beds, a writing table, a sofa and a TV with a fully functional remote! We slept soundly that night exhausted from the journey. The next day we went to Agra to see the Taj Mahal. The bus went via Mathura, the site of the beautiful Vrindavan gardens where Lord Krishna mesmerized the Gopikas by His divine charm as a cowherd playing the bansuri - the traditional Indian flute made of bamboo. Infinite are the manifestations of the Lord!! On the way, we also saw the sarcophagus of the great Mughal emperor Akbar immortalized in a historic structure boasting of the Indo-Persian style of architecture. We reached Agra by noon and the sun was pelting heat down on us on that very hot mid October day. However, the sight of the Taj left us spellbound. The beautiful white marble gumbaz (dome) surrounded by the four minars (towers) set amidst plush green and well laid out gardens and water fountains which glistened in the mid afternoon sun could be compared to a beautiful rare white pearl embedded in emerald green stones and sparkling diamonds. We went around the showpiece of human love for his beloved and caught a glimpse of it from every angle possible; all the time soaking in its artistic grandeur and aesthetic splendor. After lunch, we set out to visit the Agra fort on the way back to Delhi.
